The Sunnyslope baseball program is currently led by Head Coach Kevin Woods, who is looking hold up a deep Sunnyslope baseball tradition.. Under Coach Rich Karlberg the program won numerous region championships, and one state title in 1996. In 2006, Coach Jeff Shillington took over and continued the tradition of excellence. Under Coach Shillington, the baseball program recorded region titles in 2011, 2018, 2019, and 2022, a Division II state championship in 2012 and a Division II state runner-up in 2013. The team is looking forward to competing another year at the 6A level in a new, very competitive region, and the goal is to make the state playoffs for the 15th consecutive year – and hopefully make a run at the state title. After graduating 10 seniors last year, the Vikings will rely heavily on some new faces.
